Since the start of lockdown in 2020, the e-commerce industry has grown massively because people haven’t been able to go shopping so they turned to buying things online.

There are many different e-commerce business models that you might have heard of like print on demand, dropshipping and Amazon FBA but getting traffic your store that converts into sales has become really difficult.

Growing on social media gets harder and harder every day but there are some platforms that if you have the right strategy, you can start making sales within a couple of weeks.

In this article, I am going to show you the 3 best social media platforms that you can promote your store on that will convert into sales. I have personally used all of these in the past to get sales and I think anyone who knows what they are doing will be able to make sales relatively fast.

1. Pinterest

Pinterest is a search engine where people go to find inspiration for things that they want to do like the interior design but there are so many other things that Pinterest can be used for.

More than 59% of Pinterest 300 million active monthly users are using Pinterest to find new products to buy or find out more about something they want to buy. This is great for anyone that wants to try making sales for free because there is such a large audience of people who are looking for what you sell.

Getting exposure on Pinterest isn’t that hard either because their audience is so large and you are going to be pinning around 20 times a day. Every pin that you post has a chance of going viral and if it does it can bring you in hundreds or thousands of visitors.

There are certain niches that Pinterest will just work better in, these include things like interior design, DIY, arts and crafts, education, blogging and fashion. However, if you have the right Pinterest strategy, you can make almost any niche work on the platform it might just take a bit longer.

Once you have made a few sales from Pinterest, you can invest some of that money back into Pinterest ads which are extremely cheap and provide high-quality traffic. You can get an extremely low cost per click for traffic that is looking for your product.

There advertising is so targeted and cheap that almost anyone can use it and start making money from their store fast. If you have a marketing budget to start with then I would advise going straight for Pinterest ads because you will spend a lot of time creating and pinning pins for organic traffic.

2. Instagram

Instagram is the second-largest social media platform with over 1 billion active monthly users. Included in that is the 130 million people that are looking to buy and click on an Instagram shopping post.

This is an incredible number considering that you can make it on Instagram and start making sales in almost any niche. There are many examples of people in obscure niches that have massive followings on this platform and make a lot of money from it.

There have been many different changes to the Instagram algorithm that makes it harder to grow your following each time but if you can start to become consistent you can grow fast. I have personally grown many pages to tens of thousands of followers in a relatively short amount of time so I believe that anyone that puts a lot of time and effort into this can make this a great traffic source.

There are loads of ways that you can grow on Instagram and the more that you use the faster you can grow an audience and make sales. I have already written a full in-depth article that explains exactly how to grow on Instagram and all the strategy that I use.

Instagram also allows you to run adverts on their platform in multiple different formats but these can become quite expensive and it is all run through the Facebook ad manager.

If you do have a budget then I wouldn't recommend going for Instagram native ads but you could do either influencer marketing or you can buy Pinterest ads as they are more targeting and there is higher buyer intention.

3. Discord

Discord is a social media platform where you create servers that people can chat on. Usually, these are built up around a niche and everyone in that community is interested in the same things.

This makes Discord a prime opportunity for people that are looking to make sales because you can advertise to an audience of people that are interested in what you are selling.

I have used Discord along with one of my friends and we made hundreds of dollars alone from this. We did have to build the server up from scratch which took a few months but it was worth it.

Building up a community of people on Discord is surprisingly easy because there are plenty of places on the internet to advertise your server and get people joining.

Selling to these people can be very easy if you have built up trust with them and they are really into the server topic.

You can also advertise multiple times as long as it doesn't come across as spam.

I have never heard of someone recommending Discord for getting sales because it is a relatively untapped space for advertisers. There is no way to get paid advertising in Discord but you can pay to boost your server to make it an even better experience for your users.

Conclusion

Getting free sales has become really difficult now because the space is so crowded but there are some great ways that if done right, you can grow an audience and sell your product too.

All the platforms that I have mentioned above can be used together to build up a following of people that enjoy what you post and will potentially buy.
