Are There Any Electric Cars That Beat Tesla?

In the last year, Tesla has achieved a lot. Most recently their stock value went up by 500% and they are now the most valuable car company in the world. The overtook the Japanese car company Toyota recently which was a massive achievement. In this article, we are going to see if there are any true Tesla killers on the market!

Jaguar I-Pace

The Jaguar I-Pace is an all-electric SUV that starts at $69,850 but unless you want a car with very little creature comforts then you will pay more like $85,000. It has on numerous awards and a lot of people will say that it is a tesla killer, but is it?

The car has a claimed range of 298 miles, which is excellent but expect more like 250 miles. The car can charge from 0–80% in just 40 minutes on a 150 kW charger.

The interior is very sporty and the seats are very comfy. the car's infotainment is decent but the Tesla has a better one. However, the Jags drivers display is excellent and very customisable. The temperature control has a very unique design that is multifunctional.

The car has a storage space of 577L with the rear seats up and with the seats down it has 1453L of storage. The frunk is disappointing it only hold 27L which is barely enough to carry the charging cables.

Overall, I think that Jaguar has done a great job with this car but for the same price you can get a Tesla Model x which can hold more, carry more people and the infotainment is much better. For Jaguar’s first all-electric, car they have set themselves up on a path to success, they just need to improve some small things with a future car and I have no doubt that they can beat Tesla!

Audi e-Tron

Audi is a German-based car company that have been making cars for nearly 90 years so they have gotten really good at making high-quality cars. Can their new e-Tron compete with a Tesla though?

The e-Tron has 3 different model and many different “engines”. The range varies between them from 186 miles at the low end to 271 and the high end. The prices also have a massive difference from $70,000 all the way up to over $100,000. Overall, I would say that the range is disappointing and that while it might be fine for most people, if you need to drive long distances then this isn’t for you,

The seats are very comfy however they don't offer any support when going around corners. The Audi’s infotainment, however, is stunning! It has 2 main displays and a digital drivers display. The screens are lag-free and have very good software to make the overall experience very good.

I think that for that majority of people will be better off with something like a Tesla Model Y because it is half the price and has better range but, if you want really high-end infotainment and Audi premium build quality then this car is for you!

Ford Mustang Mach-E

Ford has been around for ages but never made an all-electric car before. In 2019 the announced the Mach-E which isn’t yet out for delivery but people will start to receive their cars next year.

The car starts at around $40,000 and that will go up to around $60,000. The range of this car is amazing and almost beats Tesla! For the base model, you will get a massive 270 miles of range and if you are opt-in for the larger battery you can get up to 370 miles! That more than the Model X, Y and 3.

Because it isn’t out yet, there hasn't been very many tests done on it but the infotainment is great but I don't really like the dial in the middle. The driver's display is a bit small and doesn't display enough information for it to be there.

Overall, I think for most people this is better than a Tesla but for some the tech in it is just not good enough. You may be better off with a model Y even though it has 20 miles less range, it has an excellent infotainment system.

Conclusion

Tesla has always been the best at making all-electric cars and while there are some brands that come close to Tesla none of them are Tesla killers. On most, the range isn’t good enough and the tech isn’t there just yet. The manufactures that have made their own electric car have set them up for success in the future but for now you are best will Tesla!
